Choosing a Calgary ceremony venue is one of the single biggest lingering questions you’ll have when it comes to checking off the major to-dos in your wedding planning. It sets the tone for your day, so the decision is never easy.

Researching traditional venues can be a frustrating, time-consuming process. Many affordable options in Calgary are hard to find online without actually going to the venue location or phoning and emailing the managers directly. Some higher-end venue websites aren’t clear about their process, cost, or information relating to weddings. (When you start contacting these vendors, ensure you have a spreadsheet to track all of the information as you go.)

Setting aside a major percentage of your budget for a traditional wedding is the smart thing to do. However when you’re having a pop-up in Calgary so many low-cost and/or free options open up (that means more money for your honeymoon)! Use our list of cool, unexpected downtown locations to start thinking about where your pop-up wedding will take place.

Remember to ask yourself questions relating to your personalities, your history as a couple, and whether it’ll be easy for your guests to access.

  • Where did you meet?
  • What types of hobbies do you enjoy doing together?
  • How many guests will you have?

Add a touch of whimsy to your wedding by reciting your vows inside a giant girl’s head. Located on the steps of Calgary’s tallest building, The Bow Tower, Wonderland is a piece of art Calgarians have grown to love. Just don’t try and climb it in your gown, or you could end up looking like a Jackass.

3. ATOP CALGARY TOWER

At 1228 metres above sea level, you can use your ceremony to feel on top of the world while literally being on top of the world. The Calgary Tower provides panoramic views of the city with a glass floor to make you feel like you’re floating on cloud nine.
